Writing a Book With Sound
At MacDowell, I deconstructed the first two minutes of the 1812 Overture to shape the early structure of WILDLIFE.
Deconstructing 1812
If there’s one piece of music that could score this book, it is the first two minutes of the 1812 Overture.
These sound drafts were composed during my interdisciplinary fellowship at MacDowell.
I deconstructed those first two minutes of Tchaikovsky’s overture and created a series of original audio pieces developed to score sections of text. Text was written against sections of sound—setting a dynamic structure for building the narrative into a book.
