Whether it’s one on one brain storming, a custom workshop, or a semester long advising project, supporting your work is a thrilling prospect. 

CREATING ACROSS DISCIPLINES 

You are the curriculum.
This workshop takes an interdisciplinary approach to developing and translating ideas.  Through a series of prompts and inquiries I’ll design a set of creative explorations just for you. These series of investigations can include set movement, structured improvisation, written, visual and sonic prompts designed to lead you toward the discovery and invention of your own work

BODY WORK 

Body work means so many different things to so many different bodies.
It’s been a joy to partner with my clients for over a decade. They are creatives, self-starters, performers, musicians, actors who want to train smart and build sustainable and fiercely intelligent bodies. Much like you, actually. Body Work is offered on its own and combined with creative integrative practices.

Changed Me & My Work

The workshop literally changed how I work as a human and as an artist. The work was physically and mentally demanding, and the creative atmosphere that was instilled from day one made the environment safe for exploration, and also helped foster an environment of trust between myself and my fellow artists. Looking at creating through a different lens was so helpful, and it taught me to never limit myself when I am creating my own work.

Your Acumen Is Clear

The best way to describe you would be to say that you are an amalgamator. Environmental detail, social nuance, cultural reference, and political relevance are all facets that you gather, interpret, and reissue to the world in a succinct and poignant way. Your acumen is clear in any task you perform. I notice your ability to allow for tangential thought to supplement the work without ever losing sight of the larger goal. It is your capacity to manage several trains of thought which allows you to take consideration of all constituent parts of a large project. Biggest Growth Experience

Working with you was one of the biggest growing experiences for me as an actor and a mover. The expectation for us to automatically participate in a high level of physical activity gave me no time for judgement, and took me straight to a place of work. When being asked to complete a task, we were given a very specific set of guidelines, this helped immensely with disposing of the idea of “getting it right.” It left more room for creativity and exploration. After the workshop, I found myself asking more questions during the rehearsal process, and find myself working for the story/the process, rather than working for a result, a product. Compromise comes easier to me when collaborating on a project. I am not afraid of stillness, learning to be equally present in both hyperactive movement, and simple or slow movements.

Instant ensemble + solo work. This studio course takes an interdisciplinary approach to devising performance. Together we will pool our collective experiences to work through these questions: How can we learn to see and create differently? How can we mine deeper meaning within creative exploration and translate it into form? With class time balanced between individual and ensemble investigations, the course will integrate set movement, structured improvisation and written, visual and sonic prompts designed to lead you toward the invention of your own work. Participants are asked to develop and curate materials throughout the course to construct solo projects.

 

ENGAGING IN THE ARTS, NYC 

Engaging in the arts is integral to any New York Experience. It is rich with work from all disciplines and voices, including your own. For this course we will meet as a creative research team to analyze, appreciate and respond to a variety of diverse art events. Our fidelity will be to the process of creative investigation and experimentation as a from of deeper listening and understanding.

 

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE 

This studio course takes a multi-disciplinary approach to devising performance and creating text, movement and visual material. Together we will pool our collective experiences to work through these questions:

  • How can we learn to read, interpret and jockey ideas across platforms?
  • How can we see and create differently?
  • How can we mine deeper meaning within creative exploration and translate it into form?
  • How can this inform and deepen your own work?

With class time balanced between individual and ensemble investigations, the course will integrate set movement, structured improvisation and written, visual and sonic prompts as an engine to lead you toward the invention of your own work.

Designed as an intensive eight-week course or full semester. Individual time is scheduled for mentoring solo projects. Workshops can be structured for shorter periods.

 

BODY TIME SPACE

The performer is a vector of information. Physical, intuitive, reflexive presence is the root of the instrument. Space is the medium for live performance. We will become more conscious in occupying, activating and collaborating with it. We will focus on building physical presence, address fundamental biomechanics, and expression through warm-ups, set movement, structured improvisations and movement invention.

Designed as an intensive eight-week course or full semester. Individual time is scheduled for mentoring solo projects. Workshops can be structured for shorter periods.

 

SPONTANEOUS COMPOSITION 

An immediate way of activating an ensemble of any size into action and practice.

By learning and applying creative research, set contextual, spatial criteria, and movement we build a world, one that builds accumulatively through structured improvisation / spontaneous composition. We will build a complex improvisational / practice structure built to run itself via internal cues and events setting it all into motion and flux.
